WID is a volunteer driven organization. Our committees are made up of women who are at the top in the development field. Serving on a committee helps to advance the mission of WID and is also an excellent networking opportunity. Committee appointments are generally for 2 years and open to WID members only.
Career Advancement

Assist WID members in their career advancement through an annual program of career coaching. Recruit volunteer career coaches and match them with members seeking career guidance. Evaluate the success of the program.
Communications (includes website)

Solicits, writes, and edits material for WID newsletters and website, including event speaker biographies. Oversees content and production of newsletter and creation of marketing and membership materials. Handles WID materials and descriptions required for other publications.
Updates content of WID-NY website and ensures site’s functionality and features, and ensure that they are maintained and expanded to meet needs of members and others.
Luncheon Speakers

Creates annual schedule of luncheon programs, solicits suggestions for speakers, recruits presenters, thanks presenters after the event.
Membership

Promotes WID membership in non-profit community, recruits new members and renews existing members, tracks and analyzes constituency profiles, liaises with other committees on programs to meet new member needs, and markets Women in Development (WID), New York.
Nominating

Responsible for recruiting new Board members, seeking to ensure well-rounded, diverse leadership through the solicitation of board nominations throughout the year from Board and Committee Chairs. Meets with and assesses nominees. Presents slate of prospective members and their biographical information to Board for approval, and provides new Board member orientation and o organizes, with support of management, 2 Board dinners for existing and prospective Board members each year.

Develops, implements, and publicizes new programs and initiatives, including workshops, seminars, networking events, affinity roundtables, etc.

Identifies and solicits prospective sponsors for WID. Develops sponsorship opportunities, devises recognition for, and acknowledges sponsors.
Woman of Achievement Award

Identifies candidates and proposes them with their biographical information to the Board for a vote, and secures honoree for annual Woman of Achievement award. Oversees all arrangements and promotion for WOA Luncheon with the support of management including: selection of date, venue, menu, event logistics, invitations, programs, obtaining the award and attending to special needs for honorees and their guests.
