Volunteer for a Committee Now!

 

Career Coaching

Recruit volunteer coaches and match them with interested WiD members seeking one-on-one coaching and career guidance at all levels of experience. Assist WiD members in their professional development by encouraging ongoing mentoring relationships. Collaborate with other WiD committees to further advance members’ networking skills and support their participation in additional learning opportunities. Continually improve the quality of the coaching experience.

 

Specifically, this Committee needs four to eight additional volunteers to serve as active members of our Committee. Tasks include:
         - Recruit new volunteer coaches
         - Keep coaching rosters up to date
         - Post new requests on Google Docs for fulfillment
         - Fulfill requests for coaching (make matches)
         - Serve as coaches
Additional tasks might include:
         - Call WID members from Member Directory to ask them to coach
         - Organize open coaching session before I-to-I
         - Recruit coaches at monthly luncheons and other WID events
         - Make matches more quickly
         - Update our roster of available coaches

 

Time commitment:  Four hours per month. We are especially looking for current WID members who are familiar with the WiD coaching process.
 

Communications
Solicits, writes, and edits material for WiD newsletters and website. Oversees content and production of newsletter and creation of marketing and membership materials.  Manages the WiD LinkedIn Group. Handles WiD materials and descriptions required for other publications.  Updates content of WiD website and ensures site’s functionality and features, and ensure that they are maintained and expanded to meet needs of members and others.

 

Specifically, this Committee needs
- One or more volunteers to help us maintain our LinkedIn content, especially regarding job postings
- Committee members who can help with writing, editing and public relations activities

 

Time commitment: Eight-ten hours per quarter.

 

Membership
Promotes WiD membership in non-profit community, recruits new members and renews existing members, tracks and analyzes constituency profiles, liaises with other committees on programs to meet new member needs, and markets WiD.

 

This Committee needs three additional volunteers, preferably new members with membership experience.
 

Sponsorship
Identifies and solicits prospective sponsors for WiD.  Develops sponsorship opportunities, devises recognition for, and acknowledges sponsors.

 

This Committee needs one-two high-energy individuals who can:
- Research new sponsorship prospects
- Solicit prospects
- Assist with sponsorship fulfillment

 

Time commitment: Three hours per month.
 

Volunteer Management & Leadership
Responsible for recruiting and retaining volunteers for WiD. This includes: creating a pathway of increasing responsibility for new members-volunteers; developing and implementing an annual evaluation system; fostering mentoring relationships between new and experienced WiD volunteers; and developing a deep well of WiD members from which to draw future leadership.

 

This Committee needs one-two additional members.  Tasks include:
            - Working with Committee Chairs to identify volunteers needs
            - Contacting new volunteer prospects to discuss what activities may best suit their interests
            - Implementing creative approaches to volunteer recruitment

 

Time commitment: Eight-ten hours per quarter.
