In this newly created position and reporting to the Senior Director of Development and Philanthropy, the Assistant Director will bring successful frontline fundraising experience and enthusiasm to a wide range of activities to broaden the current base of financial support and expand opportunities to engage future leaders. This position requires an innovative development professional with a positive attitude and outgoing personality, able to relate in a sincere manner to a diverse groups and at all times acts with discretion and diplomacy.
Specific tasks will include: engaging in prospect research to identify and prioritize potential new donors for a range of congregational priorities; directing and expanding donor relations through social media and email; creating a variety of programs to cultivate and steward current and prospective donors; planning events to bring members together with members of the clergy and temple leadership, including cocktail receptions/breakfasts/lunches/dinners; performing other duties as required to maximize fundraising revenue and strengthen members' connections to the temple.
Interested candidates must have: a BA degree with at least six years of relevant development experience including a high level of personal interaction with donors; exceptional writing, editing and verbal skills, including the ability to actively listen and target messages to specific audiences; the ability to work independently and collaboratively, with poise and sensitivity; and strong computer skills and be comfortable learning new database management programs.
The Assistant Director must be comfortable working in a small department, be highly organized, self-motivated, able to multitask and to work effectively under pressure.
